The
Madtown Barefoot Boogie is a volunteer-run, community-building,
substance-free, open-floor dance for people who love to dance and
express themselves through movement. You don't have to get dressed
up or worry about being cool. You don't have to be graceful or have
studied dance. All you have to do is like to move your body and
have fun. You can dance alone or dance with others -- you choose
whatever you need to feel comfortable on the dance floor. Children
of all ages are very welcome at the dance but an adult should accompany
young children.
We
have a “middle” between the first and second halves.
The middle is time where we rest, sit in circle, and have general
community announcements and sharing. Its one of the ways we seek
to build a community of dancers and not just be a place where people
come to dance.
The
music played varies in rhythms, moods, and tempos so that people
are given a chance to express themselves from different places.
The music includes many genres, including ambient, world beat, hip-hop,
downtempo, latin, funk, r&b, and disco, all arranged to make
for a magical dance journey.
